Hey. Modigliani Movie Inquiries had a great two-year run. But, we've moved on to bigger and better things. In Pokemon-terms, we have evolved.
Our new name?
Our new site is www.FilmColossus.com
The reason for the change?
First, the name. As cult-ish as the name Modigliani Movie Inquiries is, the reaction you get is usually confusion. In 2013, I was Sundance and telling people, "Yeah, my site is called Modigliani Movie Inquiries," and they'd have to repeat it four times, would try to write it down, etc. etc. Some would straight up dismiss me. I was just at the 2014 Sundance and telling people, "Yeah, my site is Film Colossus," and people were either pretending like they knew us and would say "OH, YEAH, of course!" or would say what a cool name. So. Branding. Easier to say. Easier to remember. And it makes us sound gigantic. Even though we're tiny as can be.
The second reason has to do with molting and moving on. I started Modigliani Movie Inquiries on my own, while in my pajamas, from my mom's living room. When I met Mortimer/Travis Bean, we felt an immediate kinship because of our shared desire to reform film criticism. He had his own site, I had mine. But we knew one day we had to merge. I could have crossed to his site. Or he to mine. We could renovate or build anew. And creation seemed way more fun than renovation. So.
So. Please. Come check out the new site! We're still in phase 1. But in the next few years we hope to continue to pretty up the site and to add some awesome features that will build the community aspect and allow readers like yourself to learn and learn and learn about all sorts of stuff about movies. We will become your #1 go to source for insight into films.
And we hope you contribute! Make requests. Ask to write freelance for us. And...well, those are really the only two things you can do at the moment, but there will be more in the future!
